Bond With Your Spouse and Children By Enjoying Educational Games and Taking an Interest With An Array of Other Kinds Of Principled Activities

Keeping the Purpose of Christian Gaming

Christian games, like those based on the Bible, are great ways to bring up gospel conversation. Sometimes, however, the focus ends up being more on winning rather than the principles trying to be taught. There are different things that can be done to get more gospel teaching out of these Christian games. One way is after each round to find a scripture in the Bible that is related to that certain topic or idea given. This can be made fun by turning it into a race of who can find a related scripture first. Before and after the game, hymns or praises about the ideas in the game can be sung to invite the Holy Spirit. After a round, children can take turns recounting the stories or values from the Bible that were presented in the game. Starting and ending each game with a prayer is also a great idea.

Great Christian Games to Play in the Car

Traveling in the car with the family is a great time to switch the radio off and bond together. To take advantage of this time together, families can play Bible-related games to have fun and talk about religious principles. The following are some examples of such games that the family can play together while inside a vehicle. Outburst: Bible Edition is a laugh-out-loud game that the family will love. This game has people guessing the top ten items of a certain topic. In the Bible edition, topics include, “Names For Christ”, “Sons of Jacob” and “Animals in the Bible”. The Bible edition of Mad Game can also be played while traveling with no hassle. Bible Mad Gab takes well-known phrases from the Bible and changes them to sound like another phrase. For example, “Pills Are Offs Halt” is really “Pillar of Salt”. Bible Blurt! can also be played during road trips. To play this game, one player reads the meaning of a word and the other players try to guess that word first. For example, the card that reads “Thanks to God expressed before and after meals”, awards a point to the first person to say “Grace!”. Certainly these games will lead to a more meaningful time with the family than just listening to the radio or watching movie. They may even bring up great gospel discussion.

Learning While Playing

Learning can be as fun as playing a game. Within trivia games like Trivial Pursuit, the Game of Knowledge, Outburst, to name but a very few, people learn facts and statistics that they otherwise were not aware of. Such games also introduce gamers to new ideas and products that they may be interested in but were not aware of before. Many games teach children new vocabulary within the rules or as part of the game play. Even adults learn new words, especially in games like Taboo, Scrabble, and Scattergories. Other games show on a basic level how more complicated things work. For example, the game Masterpiece shows how auctions work, Monopoly demonstrates mortgage, and Pit teaches about the stock market. Learning can be fun!

Family Game Evening

Around sixty percent of all newborns are brought home to broken families. It has also been shown in studies that the children from such families are very likely to have twice as many serious problems. A proven way to help keep families close is to have a consistent Family Game Evening. A Family Game Evening is a designated evening of the week that the family plans to come together to play a game and have fun. Family Game Evening leads to family togetherness. It is a time where the family can learn about each member and notice the traits and talents of one another. It is great for building memories and just having a good time together. Family Game Evenings also give the children and parents something to look forward to in the week. It has even happened that wayward children come home on the day of Family Game Evening because they know that the family will be together and they have fond memories of these rich times. Despite the trials each member may be facing, having regular evenings of family fun helps keep the family close.
