Directory Submission for Quality Backlinks

By: Gen Wright

There are many ways you can acquire back links on the Internet. But first, why is everyone rushing to get more and more back links?

You see, the Internet is all about links. Without links, you can't get traffic. Take a look at the different forms of Internet advertising around you. What do you see? You will come across pay per click advertising, banner advertising, pop ups, pop unders, etc. All of them are links, but they are in different forms. A banner ad is just an image link.

When you get lots of links pointing to your website, it can only lead to one thing - traffic. And why is traffic important? Traffic is important because it is "oxygen" on the Internet. It's air for your website. Without traffic, your website is pretty much dead. Nothing will ever happen on the site. You won't see people clicking on ads. You won't be getting any leads. And you certainly won't be getting any sales.

Now that we have established the need for links, let's take a look at the different ways to build back links to your site.

One of the fastest way to build back links to your site, is through web directory submission. There are literally thousands of high quality web directories on the Internet. DMOZ is a prime example. All you need to do, is to submit your URL to the relevant category, and wait for an editor to review your link and approve it. If it gets approved, your link will be published on the web directory immediately.

That is just one directory. Imagine submitting your site to thousands of web directories. How many back links do you think you will be getting? Of course, the submission process can be a little time consuming. You can do it in your free time if you like. If not, you can always outsource the submission work to a professional web directory submission company.

Before submission, make sure that you have all the relevant information that you are going to need. You will need to provide:

1) URL of your sites.
2) Anchor texts (keywords that you are targeting)
3) A short description of your website.
4) An email address.

Try to use a different email address for this purpose. Sign up for a free account with Yahoo or Gmail. After the submission has been completed, you may be required to login to your email account and confirm the submissions.

A side benefit that you will be enjoying is that your site will get better search engine rankings. The more back links you have pointing to your site, the higher you will rank. Over time, the search engines will treat your site as authority sites, due to the sheer number of links that you have out there.
