SEM:Search Engine
Marketing
Search engine marketing is one of the fastest
growing fields in advertising. With hundreds
of billions of dollars being spent annually
on products found on the Internet, the only
way to make sure that a portion of that money
comes to you is by ensuring that anyone looking
for what you have to sell finds you and buys
it from you. Search engine marketing is copy
written so that when people enter keywords in
a search engine, your business will come up
as a hit.
It's not enough just to come up as a hit. You
need to be one of the first hits. Also, you
need to make sure that the description that
accompanies your hit will convince a person
that you are a good source for the product they
want. You may have noticed in doing your own
web searches that even highly ranked hits are
often unreadable or give you no sense of what's
actually happening on the site to which they
are linked.
Ecommerce Driven by Search Engine Marketing:
Given the risks of viruses, spyware, and Trojans
picked up from malicious website writers, people
are reluctant to click on strange looking websites.
Add to that the fact that people are generally
not enthusiastic about wasting time in the pursuit
of something simple and straightforward, and
you should realize that your search engine marketing
needs to be concise and properly targeted. When
people enter the keywords, they'll click on
your link if the search engine pulls up clear
text which includes the keywords in a relevant
context to their desired purchase.
There are two common ways to use search engine
marketing to increase the number of visitors
to your site. Search engines can only read certain
information in the coding of your website--they
aren't reading what clients are seeing. You
can use software or hire someone to change the
coding that the search engines read, resulting
in higher positioning in the search engines
when keywords are entered. You can also write
(or hire a consultant to write) information
pages which include the key phrases and fit
the specifications which will make them high
ranking on a major search engine. The information
page will include a link which redirects the
reader to you.
